Death

*** RELEASE DATE: 1ST NOVEMBER – PRE-ORDER NOW ***

The autumn 2025 edition of Sluice magazine is guest-edited by Dr Sarah Wishart.

"This issue began, as so many things do, with something that didn’t quite come to life.
I’d been thinking a lot about death."

The Death issue features a long-form conversation between artists Victoria Sharples and Claye Bowler on curating death. Also, Conor Walker’s meditative writing on Stan Brakhage. The Icelandic performance artist Kamilė Pikelytė whose work feels somewhere between invocation and transformation. An extract from the work of Dr Death himself, Dr John Troyer on the human corpse. Whilst Sarah returned to a dead chapter from her PhD research, one that circled the work of Rachel Whiteread, Do Ho Suh and Gordon Matta-Clark. Artists who make space for memory. Who hold the domestic as something sacred, unfinished, ghosted but not gone. Also, returning contributors Alistair Gentry, Tash Kahn + Cathy Rose.
